MTV Networks is no stranger to foursquare badges having launched several over the last couple of years across their various media channels. In the summer of 2010, Vh1 rolled out their first branded badge with the Vh1 Music Fanatic. This Spring they have returned with a badge designed to raise awareness and support for their VH1 Save the Music Foundation. Users who follow Vh1 on foursquare and check-in to any music categorized venue during March and April will unlock the Save the Music badge. What’s even better about this badge is that every unlock will donate $1 to the foundation (up to $35k)! Users who unlock the Save the Music badge will see the following unlock text:
Hey there, music lover – now you’re a music giver, too! $1 has been donated on your behalf to support music education with VH1 Save The Music. Learn more or make a donation at www.vh1savethemusic.com
The purpose of the Vh1 Save the Music Foundation is “to restore instrumental music education programs, ensuring that every child has access to a complete education that includes the benefits of music instruction”. I love to see badges that are designed to not only create some fun for the user, but are rooted in helping to create awareness and do some good. Well done Vh1.
