Team Coco Blimp in Atlanta

In preparation for the launch of Conan O’Brien’s new show on TBS, the Team Coco folks have been running a social media campaign of epic proportions.  One of the most unique parts of that marketing push was the launch of the Team Coco Blimp.  The original blimp schedule had Atlanta listed for an October 16th visit before heading down to Tampa, but the schedule changed and it stayed up in the Northeast for most of the month (likely due to the MLB playoff games).  Atlanta Foursquare users have been patiently waiting for the end of the month when the schedule had several open slots yet to be determined.  Given TBS is headquartered here in Atlanta, it was highly likely we would be granted a revised stop on the schedule.

The Team Coco blimp will be flying over Atlanta on Friday, October 29th.

Part of the Team Coco campaign involved a Foursquare element where users who are in the vacinity of the blimp can unlock a very cool looking new badge.  This isn’t Conan’s first use of Foursquare as he had a special badge available for Bonnaroo attendees who checked in during his show.  Unlocking the blimp badge will first require you to follow Team Coco on Foursquare.  All that is left to do is to check-in The Conan Blimp venue when you see it.  Athens Foursquare user Watson Jones was heading up to Charlotte on Thursday night where the blimp was resting at the Anderson Regional Airport.  He confirmed that the blimp venue showed in the app once he got to within 15000 meters. When you see it in your app then you are all set to proceed with checking in and earning your new Team Coco Blimp Badge.

You can keep track of the blimp’s location using the radar at Team Coco and I will send out updates via Twitter at @4sqATL as the blimp makes its way to metro Atlanta.

EDIT: If you unlocked the badge when it was in Atlanta you can mark that you did this tip I left at the blimp venue:
