The end of summer is almost upon us and with that comes the end of the FedEx PGA Tour season. The FedExCup is entering its fifth season as the playoffs for the PGA Tour and kicks off this coming weekend with The Barclays in NJ. It will be followed over the next three weeks with The Deutsche Bank Championship in Boston, The BMW Championship near Chicago, and concluding with The TOUR Championship by Coca-Cola right here in Atlanta at East Lake Golf Club.
Until this season the PGA Tour has prohibited cell phones from being used on the course by spectators. This year they are not only allowing fans to bring their phones onto the course, but encouraging their use. They have recently partnered with foursquare to provide tips to golf fans and drive check-ins during the 2011 FedExCup playoffs by offering a limited edition badge. Users who follow the PGA Tour on foursquare before checking in at PGA related venues from now through the end of the tournament will earn the 2011 FedExCup badge and see the following unlock text which includes a discount code to use when shipping items through FedEx:
Congrats on unlocking the FedExCup badge! It all comes down to this: PGA TOUR Playoffs for the FedExCup. PGA TOUR fans could save up to 25% with FedEx when shipping golf clubs and important items. Details at http://at.fedex.com/4sqFEC (use code:SAVE32SQ).
