On the morning of July 4th, approximately 55,000 runners will brave the heat to run in the 2010 Peachtree Road Race. The Peachtree has become an annual tradition in Atlanta and since the late 1970s has the proud distinction of being the world’s largest 10k. Not only will there be 55k people participating, there will also be 3,400 volunteers and thousands of supporters in attendance.
With that many people one would think that a Super Swarm badge unlocking is certainly very possible for us to achieve. There are two new venues that have been created for this event to give people a place to check-in on Foursquare: Peachtree Road Race Starting Line and the Peachtree Road Race Finish Line. It is also highly likely that Atlanta could be the first city to unlock a Super Swarm badge at two different venues on the same day. AboutFoursquare.com has been keeping a running list showing every time the Super Swarm badge has been unlocked (18 total as of this post). Be sure to concentrate those check-ins into those two venues and let’s put Atlanta on the Foursquare history map by unlocking the badge twice!
Please visit the Atlanta Track Club site for more info on the Peachtree Road Race and you can get all of the latest news by following them on Twitter. Check out these links for a detailed map of both the Starting Area next to Lenox Mall and the Finish Area next to Piedmont Park.
