The Eater 38 badge launched back in August of this year, but was originally only available in New York City. Since then, Eater has been steadily rolling out new cities and has finally made its way here to Atlanta. Eater Atlanta is a food blog dedicated to providing its readers with what’s happening in the world of food and drink around the metro Atlanta area (available in other cities as well). The badge is called “Eater 38″ for a reason. The Eater Atlanta staff have selected 38 restaurants around the metro area that cover a variety of cuisines they consider to be essential dining for residents and visitors alike. This new foursquare badge is designed to encourage you to explore those selections. Once you visit 5 different venues on the list you will be rewarded with the Eater 38 badge. Users who complete the task will see the following unlock text:
Game-changer! You’ve hit five restaurants on Eater.com’s list of their 38 most favorite restaurants in this city. We applaud your appetite for this here badge!
I am a big fan of badges that encourage exploration and I’m looking forward to trying the venues on here that I have yet to visit. Be sure to follow Eater on foursquare before heading off to dine at one of these delicious restaurants. The best way to keep up with the restaurants that count toward earning the badge is to add the Atlanta Eater 38 List to your to-do list. A few of my personal favorites made the cut and I recommend folks give them a try if they are looking for new places to visit:

What are some of your favorite restaurants that made the Atlanta Eater 38? Remember folks: If you have trouble getting a reservation…just tell em you’re visiting from Chicago…the name on the reservation? Abe Froman.
