Foursquare released another general badge this week for users and rewards those who visit the same location…a lot. It is called the Century Club badge and is earned once you have checked in a location 100 times. This new badge is not eligible for “home” or “corporate/office” venues since the office check-ins have their own 9 to 5 badge. The badge is retro-active so if you already have more than 100 check-ins at a location you will be awarded the badge the next time you visit the venue. The unlock text reads:
That’s over 100 days you’ve checked-in at the same place! You should have your photo hanging on the wall by now. Seriously, if they don’t let you, just hang it up yourself.
I actually sent in a request for this badge well over a year ago using the badge suggestion form and even called it by the same name. I have no idea if I was the first person to suggest it or if there were any others who sent in the same suggestion, but would love to find out. I came up with the idea for the name based on the “Century Club” drinking game where participants take a shot of beer every minute for 100 minutes. That one is a longer and more challenging modification to the “Power Hour” game which consists of 60 shots in 60 minutes. If Foursquare is going through old badge submission ideas I hope they also see my request for a Mexican food one.
What are some ideas that you have for new core badges?
