June is Black Music Month and music news provider The Urban Daily has teamed up with Foursquare to launch a new badge called “It’s All Black Music”. The Urban Daily is part of the Radio One Network which also owns three metro Atlanta radio stations: Majic 107.5/97.5, HOT 107.9, and Praise 102.5. Users who follow The Urban Daily Foursquare account and visit three venues where they have left tips will unlock the new Black Music Month badge. The following text is shown when you earn the new badge:
Congratulations, you Musicologist, you! From Jelly Roll to James Brown, from Billie to Badu, keep digging up the roots of Black music.
We are fortunate here in Atlanta to have several venues where The Urban Daily has dropped tips. One of my favorites is the one they left at the US Court of Appeals which I had no idea happened here in Atlanta. That tip states:
On May 8th, 1992, the Eleventh Federal Circuit Court of Appeals overturned a previous ruling that 2 Live Crew’s “As Nasty As They Wanna Be” was obscene & sale of the album illegal.
Here are the metro area locations for you to explore during June to earn this new Black Music Month badge:
- One Capital City Plaza -
- Original Site of WERD Radio Station –
- Stankonia Studios –
- US Court of Appeals –
- WHTA Hot Spot ATL –
