The Six Nations Rugby Championship kicks off on February 5th and BBC America will broadcast 5 matches for Rugby fans here in the States. To celebrate the tournament, they have teamed up with Foursquare to create a new Rugby badge that users can earn for visiting popular rugby viewing locations around the country. They currently have about 100 venues tipped on the BBC America Foursquare page and we are fortunate to have 2 locations here in metro Atlanta:
- Midway Pub – East Atlanta Village – 552 Flat Shoals Rd
- Fado Irish Pub – Buckhead – 273 Buckhead Ave
It is unclear at this time if the badge will only be available on the 5 broadcast days or if it will be active for the duration of the tournament. Also, the number of check-ins needed is also unknown at this time. The best advice I can give you is to follow BBC America and visit Midway and Fado during the tournament games to enjoy some great food, tasty beverages, and hard hitting rugby action. Getting out there and having fun is what Foursquare is all about anyway. The badges are simply a digital token to remind yourself that you were there.
