The 2012 US Open is back and in full swing running from August 27th to September 9th at Arthur Ashe Stadium in Flushing, NY. Similar to last year, the US Open has partnered with foursquare to offer a branded badge for the 2012 tourney. Unlike last year, users who earn the badge will not be entered to win a trip to the Open. Not only will fans earn the badge at Arthur Ashe Stadium, tennis fans around the world can unlock it during the tournament by visiting their local tennis courts. Simply follow the US Open on foursquare before checking in. Users who earn the badge will see the following unlock message:
You’re now a part of tennis’ biggest stage. World-class athletes, electrifying action, and you! Keep the rally going and enjoy the US Open Tennis Championships!
1985 film ‘Fletch’ starring Chevy Chase
For fans at the event, they have partnered with Xerox to donate money for visiting their booth and with American Express to provide statement credit for synced cards at the event. A side benefit for visiting local tennis courts to earn the badge is that it will get you one tennis court closer to unlocking the “Tennis Ace” experience badge. Time is limited to earn the new 2012 US Open Championships badge so don’t wait on getting out there to visit a local court.
