2012 Olympic Day Foursquare Badge

The new Olympic Day badge provides Atlantans with an incentive to get physical this summer and win a chance to visit the London Olympics in the process.

Earn your badge by following the Olympics on foursquare and checking in at two sports or exercise related locations by June 23.  This covers a number of venues; I received the badge this weekend after checking in at two Georgia state parks.

The unlock text for the badge includes a URL linking to an entry form for a trip to take part in the upcoming Summer Games:

In addition to staying healthy and active, you’ve just unlocked the Olympic Day badge! Clearly you’re well on your way to achieving your fitness goals, now go reward yourself with a fresh fruit smoothie. Of special interest to Atlantans are the three venues associated with the 1996 Summer Games that have Olympics related tips:

  • Turner Field – Began its life as Centennial Olympic Stadium and hosted many highlights of the 1996 Games.
  • Centennial Olympic Park – The hub of Downtown Atlanta and the city’s permanent memorial to our place in Olympic history.
  • Clayton County International Park – Home of the debut of Beach Volleyball as an official Olympic sport.

The opening ceremony for the Summer Games in London takes place on July 27.  You can keep up to date on the latest Olympic new by following @Olympics on Twitter.
